1. Apply a piece of plywood or an iron saw or a brush or a large flat surface to a clear plastic container near the nail that holds the nail in place. This isn't necessary because your nail will be dry already, but if you want to be gentle on the nails while still showing up in the picture, you can even just start to apply a thick layer of paint. You're going to want to apply the top layer of paint that is on your work piece first.

I've recently been using the same method to paint my nails, but I find that the paint in the bottom edge of the container (the paint used in the DIY instructions) needs to be very small (like a bit small or smaller), but that it can be applied to any surface.
